Bellway Wales sponsors Radyr Rangers Football Festival

A RADYR football club netted sponsorship for its annual festival from local housebuilder Bellway Wales.

The company, which is building new homes in Radyr at Rhiwlas at Plasdŵr, donated £250 to help fund the Radyr Rangers Football Festival.

The event, at the club’s ground at Mound Field in Morganstown, involved teams from under-eight to under-11 taking part in a range of activities and matches, with trophies handed out to the winning teams.

Stalls on the day provided entertainment and refreshments, while a raffle on behalf of the club, with prizes including a signed men’s Wales football team shirt and round of golf for four people at Radyr Golf Club, was held.

Radyr Rangers FC, which has more 400 junior and 69 senior players on its register, runs 36 teams, including mixed sides.

Wyn Williams, Director of Development at Radyr Rangers FC, said: “The festival is the main form of income for the club and makes sure that the club can function, and all funds go towards equipment and funding pitch hire when needed during the winter months! Without the support of our sponsors and Bellway, we would not be able to function as a club.”

Description automatically generatedDaniel Shone, Sales Manager for Bellway Wales, said: “Radyr Rangers FC is the epitome of a grassroots football club as it is a real focus for the local community and allows youngsters of all ages and abilities to take part in sport. We sponsored the club in 2022 and when they approached us again for funds, we did not hesitate to sign up.

“As a socially responsible developer we strive not only to build high-quality new homes but also to help develop links with important local organisations so we can have a positive impact in the neighbourhood.

“We are very proud to have formed an ongoing relationship with Radyr Rangers FC and to have helped them finance their incredibly popular annual festival, which gives so many young players a great day out and goes such a long way to raise funds for the club.”

Bellway Wales is building 120 three and four-bedroom homes at Rhiwlas at Plasdŵr. The developer is also building homes at Coed Derw in Llantwit Fardre, and at Longwood Grange in Lisvane.
