Woman, 45, appears in court charged with attempted murder

A 45-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following an incident in which a man sustained “life-changing injuries”.

Police were called to the centre of Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, at around 09:00 BST on Tuesday. The woman, who has no fixed abode, faced Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

The victim, a 58-year-old man from Pentre, remains in hospital where he is receiving treatment for his injuries.

In addition to the attempted murder charge, the woman is also accused of affray at Pontypridd railway station. The case has been referred to Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court, where it will be heard on Friday.
