Ammanford were left to rue a Trefelin equaliser on the stroke of half time as they came away from a hard fought match played in tough conditions at the Rec on Friday night with a point.
Ammanford started the match positively in a match they were keen to win as they look to move away from the bottom three in the league.
Their early enterprise was rewarded with a fantastic goal from Tom Pratt in the ninth minute. Pratt took possession of the ball twenty yards from goal and fired home an unstoppable shot past the despairing dive of Trefelin keeper Lucas Cavalcante.
Pratt was thriving in his preferred midfield role and almost doubled the lead seven minutes later, heading narrowly wide of the goal.
Ammanford then almost scored a second when Jordan Langley saw his shot saved by Cavalcante.
Ammanford were given a scare a minute later when a Trefelin counter attack saw them hit the post.
Having weathered the early storm Trefelin were growing into the game and Ammanford keeper Craig Morris had to save sharply from a free kick on the half hour mark.
Trefelin should have equalised shortly after that when Damon Thomas fired wide with only Morris to beat.
Trefelin equalised with the last kick of the first half when Mason Jones-Thomas was allowed to run into the area and fire a shot past the unsighted Morris.
Trefelin started the second half on the front foot and Morris was forced into an excellent save two minutes after the break to keep the score level.
Ammanford were struggling to create many clear cut chances as the swirling rain continued to make creative play difficult.
Luke Harris spurned the home teams best chance of the second half, heading wide from a Jay Thomas free kick.
Substitute Osian Davies was unlucky not to score seconds after coming on when he saw a cross shot narrowly miss the Trefelin goal.
As the match wore on it was Ammanford who were holding on and they were indebted on several occasions to the safe handling of the experienced Morris in goal.
Ammanford came away with a point and will be looking to get back to winning ways when they visit bottom team Ynyshir Albions next Saturday.
