FORMER Cymru international Hal Robson-Kanu has expressed his desire to come out of retirement and sign for Wrexham AFC, the Welsh club co-owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McIlhenney. The striker has promised to donate his wages to charity if given the opportunity to return to the pitch.
Robson-Kanu, who last played a competitive match in May 2021, is impressed with Wrexham’s recent progress under the Hollywood co-owners and is willing to contribute to their quest for promotion to the EFL. The Red Dragons are just one win away from returning to the league after a 15-year absence, and their success has captured the attention of football fans worldwide.
The former West Brom and Reading striker posted on Instagram: “I’ll come out of retirement and come and play for @wrexham_afc next season. I’ll also give my salary to the charity of the fans choosing…” Robson-Kanu’s willingness to play for free is a testament to his commitment to the sport and his desire to make a positive impact.
Robson-Kanu’s experience and pedigree would be a significant addition to Phil Parkinson’s squad, who are on the brink of glory. They have got a good manager and he set them up to be difficult. We knew we would have to be patient and in the end we just wore them down. We stayed calm and got the job done.
