Rock icon Noddy Holder unveils battle against throat cancer

The star was told he had six months to live, but has beaten that prognosis

SUZAN HOLDER, wife of iconic Slade frontman Noddy Holder, has shared the remarkable story of her husband’s triumphant five-year battle against oesophageal cancer. Writing in Great British Life, Suzan disclosed that Noddy was given a devastating prognosis five years ago, being told he had a mere six months to live. However, against all odds, Noddy’s indomitable spirit and determination have defied medical expectations.

Embracing an unconventional approach to treatment, Noddy entrusted his care to the experts at The Christie Hospital in Manchester. Here, he willingly underwent a gruelling experimental treatment regimen, a groundbreaking trial of intense chemotherapy. Suzan praised the hospital’s ‘excellent’ care and emphasised Noddy’s unwavering positivity throughout the ordeal.

Suzan remarked, “The prognosis was bleak, but Noddy coped with amazing good humour and breathtaking bravery.” She highlighted his ability to live in the moment, appreciating life without dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. Suzan expressed her awe at her husband’s mental strength, which she believes played a significant role in his remarkable recovery.
