A WIDE variety of fun is on offer this bank holiday weekend, thanks to Swansea Council’s attractions and activities.
Many, including the ever-popular Blackpill Lido – are free of charge or available at a discounted cost, helping families through the cost of living crisis.
Possibilities for family fun range from free-entry cultural venues such as Swansea Museum, the Dylan Thomas Centre, Glynn Vivian Art Gallery and libraries to attractions such as the Swansea Bay Rider land train, crazy golf and the Singleton boating lake pedalos.
The council also cares for a range of open spaces such as many beaches and parks.
Council cabinet member Robert Francis-Davies said, “We want people to have a fantastic time this weekend; locations such as Blackpill Lido are ideal for families from across Swansea.
“The attractions we run – all free or affordable – are part of our commitment to support the people of Swansea through the cost of living crisis.
“Parks and beaches are a great option for picnics if the sun is out.
“There are also plenty of opportunities for fun at Swansea’s wide range of other venues across the area.”
The seafront Blackpill Lido has a paddling pool, children’s play area, climbing rock and picnic facilities. There are play fountains, picnic areas and nearby facilities including cafes. It’s accessible on foot, by bike along the seafront cycle track, by bus – with a bus stop very close by, and by car, with parking nearby.
The outdoor waterpark is open daily 9am-5pm until September 22.
Savings can be made at paid-for attractions like Oystermouth Castle for those Swansea residents who are part of the council’s Passport to Leisure scheme.
The council’s highly rated cultural venues and libraries continue to run free events and activities. The National Waterfront Museum is also free entry.
