Women and families being helped by the Cyfannol Women’s Aid charity received freshly made pizza provided by homebuilder Bellway at the weekend.
The company, which is building 212 new homes at its new Alder Grove scheme in Newport, held a launch event at the site. As part of the occasion, it brought in the Ballers Pizza van and arranged for pizzas to be made to donate to Cyfannol Women’s Aid – a charity that supports those who have experienced domestic abuse and sexual violence.
The freshly cooked pizzas were then delivered to families living in the charity’s accommodation in Newport.
Aimee McAndrew, Communications and Fundraising Coordinator at Cyfannol Women’s Aid, said: “We are immensely grateful for generous donations such as the recent donation of freshly cooked pizzas from Bellway.
“These delicious treats were distributed to women and families living in our accommodation throughout Newport. This gesture not only provided nourishment but also fostered a sense of community and support. It was a heart-warming opportunity for people we support to know that the community rallies around them with care and compassion.”

In the Newport area, Cyfannol Women’s Aid has 11 units of VAWDASV (Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence) refuge/move-on accommodation and five supported accommodation spaces for women who have been sexually exploited.
It also offers specialist support for children and young people in the community and groupwork programmes for women.
Support worker with Cyfannol Women’s Aid Beth Dallimore went along to represent the charity and collect the pizzas at the launch of the development off Queensway, in Llanwern – the site of the former Llanwern Steelworks.
Rhodri Davies, Bellway Wales Sales Manager, said: “Cyfannol Women’s Aid does essential work in the area supporting women and children who have experienced any kind of violence, domestic abuse, or sexual violence. We hope that all those who received one of these delicious pizzas enjoyed it and understood that the gift was sent from us as a sign of our support.
“It was great that our team were able to welcome Beth from the charity to our launch event to hand over the donation to her and talk to her about the great work the charity does across Gwent and especially in and around Newport.”
