Candidates standing for Neath and Swansea East in 2024 elections

CANDIDATES for the Neath and Swansea east electoral ward have been confirmed ahead of the the 2024 parliamentary election which is set to take place on July 4.

The election, which will see 32 MPs voted in to represent Wales, follows a recent review into the size and boundaries for constituencies which was undertaken by the Local Democracy and Boundary Commission for Wales.

It will also see the new look constituency contested for the first time with the existing Neath constituency, which includes areas such Resolven, Glynneath, and Tonna, being merged with Swansea East which includes areas like Bonymaen, Llansamlet, and Clydach.

In the past both areas were considered to be safe Labour seats with Neath previously being won by Labour member Christina Rees in the 2019 elections and the Swansea East seat won by Carolyn Harris who also secured the Labour nomination this time round.
