The British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) and The Harmony Institute Host A Celebration of Yoga in Wales.
BWY Wales and The Harmony Institute at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) are excited to announce the Welsh Dragon Yoga Festival at the Lampeter campus and online on Sunday 11 August 2024.
This event will take place both at the Lampeter campus and online, offering a unique opportunity for yoga enthusiasts and the curious alike to immerse themselves in a day of enlightening discussions centered around ‘Yoga in Action’.
Led by locally renowned yoga practitioners and scholars from UWTSD, attendees will explore the profound impact of yoga in prisons, its transformative effects on mental health, and learn practical ways to integrate yoga principles into everyday life.
Those attending the celebration at Lampeter will have the chance to participate in two physical practice sessions. In the morning, Mary Wyville, co-director of Movement Intelligence UK, will guide attendees through a session focusing on enhancing bone strength and maintaining postural integrity. Later in the day, award-winning BWY tutor Lynne Jones will lead a session on Kriya Yoga, the yoga of action.
Diana O’Reilly, BWY Chair, who will open the day comments: “We are thrilled to once again collaborate with The Harmony Institute to bring this experience to Wales. Yoga in Action isn’t just about poses; it’s about applying yoga’s wisdom beyond the mat to transform lives and communities through practice.”
Dr Nicholas Campion, Director of The Harmony Institute and Associate Professor at UWTSD comments: ‘I am delighted that we can partner with the British Wheel of Yoga. So much of the Institute’s mission has health and wellbeing at its heart and the BWY presence can only benefit the Institute and the whole University. All are welcome.”
Tickets are £55 for members and £65 for non-members for the in-person event, and £20 for BWY members and £30 for non-members for online participation.
