SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is urging dog owners to protect their pets during hot weather.
Mr Rowlands, a dog owner, is backing the #DogsDieinHotCars campaign to raise awareness of leaving dogs in hot cars.
He said: “I am a great supporter of the work of the RSPCA and happy to help get the message across to ensure the welfare of our pets.
“The RSPCA is warning people about the dangers of leaving a dog in the car during hot spells of weather as even if it is in the shade or there is a window open it is still dangerous.
“We are currently in the grip of a hot spell of weather so the campaign acts as a timely reminder for this time of the year and I would urge my constituents to be aware.”

The RSPCA is reminding dog owners to take extra precautions to protect the welfare of their pets during spells of hot weather.
Many people think it’s ok to leave their dog in the car if they’re parked in the shade or the windows are open. But a car can become as hot as an oven, even when the weather doesn’t feel that warm.
When it’s 22 degrees Celsius outside, the car could reach an unbearable 47 degrees within an hour. It’s very dangerous and will cause your dog suffering and harm.
The #DogsDieinHotCars campaign is aimed at raising awareness of the dangers of leaving dogs in hot cars and may just save a dog’s life.
