A PLANNING application has been handed in to Bridgend Council to redevelop a former village hotel in to housing.

The plans submitted by developers at Mainty Group Consulting Ltd could see the former Old Kings Head Hotel in High Street, Ogmore Vale, converted in to flats if approved.

Proposals which were brought forward in earlier this year say the empty building, which appears to have fallen in to a state of disrepair in recent years, could consist of nine flats in total with five being set aside as “self-contained affordable” properties if given the go-ahead by council bosses.

Images within the plans show the project aims to retain all of its original colouring and façade design of the building once complete as well as giving a “full repair to revive original features and finishes”.

As well as being a hotel the site, which is based near to a pharmacy and burger bar, was previously said to have been used as flats in the past. However reports indicate it has become an eyesore over the years with the “dilapidated” building now suffering from decay.

The plans for the development, which also contains parking at the rear of the site, will now go before the local planning authority for a decision in the coming months.
