Sam Rowlands MS wears it pink in support of Breast Cancer Now campaign

SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales supports a major flagship fund raising event.

Mr Rowlands, added a splash of pink to his usual attire to raise awareness of breast cancer in the Senedd last week to help raise vital funds for world-class breast cancer research and life-changing support.

He was taking part in the annual Breast Cancer Now’s wear it pink, which took place on Friday October 18 during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Mr Rowlands said: “Every 10 minutes, someone in the UK hears the words “you have breast cancer”. It’s the most common cancer in the UK. Each year around 11,500 women and 85 men lose their lives to the disease. That’s why I’m so passionate about encouraging everyone in North Wales to support this charity.

“Wear it pink is great way to have fun whilst raising money for Breast Cancer Now’s world-class research and life-changing support. I am proud to raise awareness of the impact of the disease locally, and to support and advocate for Breast Cancer Now’s research.

“Breast cancer affects so many people in North Wales so I hope that everybody here will get involved this October and support this very important cause.”

Claire Rowney, chief executive at Breast Cancer Now, said: “We are so excited to see wear it pink return to the Senedd, and incredibly grateful for the support of all the MSs who are raising awareness of breast cancer and the vital work that wear it pink helps to fund.

“Wear it pink is a fantastic opportunity for communities across the UK to come together, have fun and show their support for this very important cause. By simply wearing something pink and donating what you can, you’ll help raise much-needed funds and awareness.

“Together we can take another vital stride towards reaching our goal that, by 2050, everyone who is diagnosed breast cancer will live, and be supported to live well.”
