Martin Newell has been elected as a ward member for the Town Ward in Monmouth

FOLLOWING a by-election on Thursday, October 24, 2024, Martin Newell (Local Conservatives) has been confirmed as the new County Councillor for the Town Ward in Monmouthshire.

The election was held for the Town Ward in Monmouth after Cllr Catherine Fookes resigned upon being elected as the MP for Monmouthshire.

The election results were as follows:

  • Jackie Atkin – Welsh Labour: 184 votes
  • Jez Becker – Welsh Liberal Democrats: 19 votes
  • Martin Newell – Local Conservatives: 350 votes
  • Paul Rollings – Green Party: 41 votes

Voter turnout was 33.7%.
