A TERRACED home in Pontlottyn could be converted into a HMO for four people.
Applicant Tony Jordon is seeking planning permission for the project at 37 Duffryn Street.
Documents submitted to Caerphilly County Borough Council show the house has been “on the open market for several months” but “has not sold as a family property”.
HMOs (houses in multiple occupation) are typically properties for single, unrelated adults who have their own private bedrooms but share other communal facilities such as bathrooms or kitchens.
A statement by planning agent Creation Design Wales argues the conversion of the Duffryn Street house into a HMO for four residents would “provide much-needed affordable housing” and will not result in any changes to the front or rear of the property.
Designs show the ground floor would contain a shared hall, lounge and dining room, kitchen and bathroom.
The four bedrooms would be located on the first floor.
Storage space for bikes would be provided in the rear yard, which would also serve as an “amenity space” for future residents.
The agents’ statement also argues the home is close to a railway station, bus stop and shops.
The application is currently out for consultation, and can be viewed on the Caerphilly County Borough Council website under reference 24/0879/COU.
