PROPOSALS to relocate a bus stop in a Neath Port Talbot village have been approved by the local council.

An existing bus stop on the A4109 Dulais Road at Nant Y Cafn, Seven Sisters, will now be relocated to a site further south on a wider grassed verge.

Officers said the report was brought to members attention as the existing bus stop on the A4109 Dulais Road was “not suitable for use by school children” with additional road safety concerns.

After a review they recommended that  it be repositioned as it was described as not being in an ideal location.

The costs for the works will now be funded by the council’s bus shelter replacement programme, with additional funding to enhance infrastructure such as the footway and waiting area provided by the Welsh Government bus service support grant.

The report read: “The proposal is to relocate the bus stop further south on a wide grassed verge increasing the available space to stand/ wait and the visibility.

“The existing bus stop was identified as unsuitable for the number of children using the stop due to its limited space. The proposal to relocate the bus stop will provide greater and safer space to wait.”

It also added that local council members from the area had been consulted and supported the proposal, with cabinet members later approving the plans unanimously at a meeting held on March 12, 2025.
