A HOST of local authors will be holding question and answer sessions in support of a day centre volunteers rescued from closure.
The Tudor Street Centre will be the venue for the talks which will be a fringe event to the Abergavenny Writing Festival and hosted by the Gathering Community.
The charity runs the Tudor Street Centre to support people to socialise and take part in activities and took over the former council run day centre, on a temporary lease, earlier this year after Monmouthshire County Council had planned to dispose of it.
Among those who will be leading workshops and taking part in the question and answer sessions on Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5 are John Alex Taylor, Colin R Parsons, Julie Pike, Kathy Biggs, Stephanie Burgis and Chris Meredith.
Tredegar born poet, novelist and former steelworker Mr Meredith rose to prominence with his 1988 debut novel Shifts which told the story of the decline of heavy industry and the South Wales working class and was shortlisted for the title of “greatest Welsh novel of all time”.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go to The Gathering Community charity which will also be fundraising during the two days to support its activities and sustain the Tudor Street building.
There will be author signings after each author event at a pop-up shop from local retailer Book-ish at Tudor St during the festival.
Authors Helen Comerford and Jack Strange will also be holding book signings at Tudor Street, at 2pm and 3pm respectively, on Saturday, Apri 5.
Tickets for all events are available from www.ticketsource.co.uk/the-gathering-community.
