GRANT funding of more than £200,000 has been approved by Neath Port Talbot Council as part of its Third Sector Grant funding scheme for 2025/26.
The scheme will see a total of £234,914 given to local applicants who handed in bids between December 9, 2024, and January 24, 2025, for a maximum of £25,000 each.
These were approved by members of the council’s cabinet at a meeting held in March 2025, with the green light given for the funding of 12 applicants. These came from a total of 70 overall, which were were assessed and recommended by a grants panel.
The 12 successful bids included £25,000 for the YMCA Neath who will look to strengthen and expand its community services, £25,000 for Canolfan Maerdy for staff costs, and £25,000 for the Ystalyfera Development Trust to help with funding for services which include activities promoting social and digital inclusion.
Other examples will see a sum of £25,000 given to the Gwynfi Miners Community Hall to cover staff and utility costs, as well as £5,000 for Afan Arts to go towards room hire and tutor fees for the youth theatre at The Plaza, Port Talbot.

Officers told those in attendance at the meeting that the funding had been decided after a robust and transparent process with members unanimously approving the decision to award the funds.
