Sam Rowlands MS pleased to hear of improvement plans for the Countess of Chester hospital

SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, has welcomed news that a hospital, used by his constituents, has announced plans to improve its emergency care.

Mr Rowlands, was commenting after hearing that the Countess of Chester Hospital, which is just across the border from his region, has revealed a new £7.5 million plan to bring down waiting times and improve patient experience of emergency care.

He said: “I was delighted to hear about the exciting proposals for the Countess of Chester Hospital. It is certainly good news for my constituents who use that facility and maybe something that could be considered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

“We all know that the NHS continues to struggle in North Wales especially with accessing emergency care with long waits in A&E departments and I welcome any moves to improve the experience for patients and help hard working staff.

“It is great to see a hospital trust tackling these issues and I would like to see similar plans considered for North Wales.”

The plan will provide patients with more direct access to the full range of emergency care available at the local hospital, which could significantly cut waiting times and improve patient safety and experiences.

Under these ambitious new plans, patients will be triaged on arrival and directed to the relevant department, significantly cutting waiting times and ensuring patients get the right care for their needs.
