Three arrested after violent confrontation outside Ebbw Vale wine bar

THREE people have been arrested following a violent altercation outside a wine bar in Ebbw Vale which witnesses described as resembling a scene from the Wild West.

The incident, which unfolded outside Morgan’s Wine Bar on Bethcar Street on the evening of Saturday, 19 April, saw multiple police units called to the town centre after reports of a large-scale disturbance.

Eyewitness accounts and videos shared online depict a chaotic scene, with bar windows shattered and individuals seen lying injured in the street. One witness, who asked not to be named, said the situation escalated from a confrontation that began inside the venue.

“It was like something out of EastEnders with fists going through windows and then a chair,” they said. “A fella was getting punched and there was blood everywhere – he was in and out of consciousness for a bit. Even the DJ legged it from there but came back when it had calmed down. The pub was on lockdown – they locked the door because of how bad it was.”

Police were called at approximately 9.15pm, with Gwent Police confirming the arrests of three individuals in connection with the incident.

A man and a woman, both in their twenties, were arrested on suspicion of assault, while a 52-year-old man was detained on suspicion of affray and criminal damage. The younger man was later released without charge. The woman and the 52-year-old man were both issued conditional cautions.
