SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, joined fellow politicians to celebrate the importance of a recent Supreme Court decision.
Mr Rowlands attended the Step Up Senedd event held on the steps of the Senedd and organized by the Women’s Rights Network, WRN.
He said: “I was pleased to join members of the Women’s Rights Network to highlight and celebrate the importance of the recent ruling and meet campaigners from across Wales.
“It was good to hear all about the organisation and how it strives to raise awareness of issues for women and girls and I certainly will be doing all I can to ensure the Welsh Government fully complies with the law.”
The Step Up Senedd event was held by Wales Women’s Rights Network to celebrate and highlight the importance of the recent Supreme Court clarification of 16th April on the meaning of ‘sex’ and ‘woman’ in the Equality Act 2010 and its particular significance for the lives of women and girls in Wales.

The aim of the event was to keep the voices of women and girls to the fore as the Senedd work to revise and implement policies to ensure compliance with the newly affirmed requirements of the Equality Act.
The First Minister has stated that the Welsh Government fully intends to comply with the law in protecting the sex based rights of over 50% of the Welsh population and WRN want to make sure this happens as swiftly and effectively as possible across all areas of public life.
