CHEPSTOW’S beloved food van, Only Foodz and Sauces, has been crowned Best Takeaway 2025 at the Best Business Awards for South East Wales.
The award is a remarkable triumph for Kyle and Kelly Gettings, who have transformed a devastating setback into a story of resilience and determination.
Earlier this year, the couple faced near ruin when a fire destroyed their original food van at Bulwark Industrial Estate, leaving them without a business and uncertain about their future. Yet, thanks to the generosity of Ben Newman, better known as Spudman, who provided a replacement van on a take-now-pay-later basis, Kyle and Kelly were able to rebuild. Their food van, which cheekily nods to the classic sitcom Only Fools and Horses, reopened in February.
Reflecting on their journey, Kyle said: “Huge thank you to everyone who’s supported us and believed in what we’re doing, this one’s for you. This award belongs to everyone who stood by us. Thanks for your generosity. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who’s backed us. This award belongs just as much to you as it does to us. Here’s to making 2025 even bigger, better, and tastier!”
The pair attribute their success not only to hard work but also to overwhelming community support, with every like, share, review, and visit playing a part in their achievement.
Looking ahead, Only Foodz and Sauces has recently applied for permission to screen films and play music at their site. The licensing application is due to be considered this week by Monmouthshire County Council.
Visitors can find Only Foodz and Sauces at Bulwark Industrial Estate, Chepstow, where the van continues to serve up its much-loved takeaway offerings.
