Buddy left with two broken jaws and lung damage as family faces mounting vet bills
A WELSH family has launched a fundraising appeal after their much-loved cat was left with horrific injuries when a driver allegedly deliberately ran him over – speeding up after spotting the animal in the road.
Buddy was struck at around 7.15pm on Tuesday, April 23, after witnesses say a driver accelerated towards him instead of slowing down.
The impact left the cat with two broken jaws, serious chest and lung injuries, and a shifted skull, according to the family.
Buddy was rushed in an emergency to Valley Vets, a 24-hour veterinary practice, where staff worked to stabilise him. Vets reportedly warned that Buddy was in such a critical condition on arrival that even attempting an X-ray immediately could have killed him.
Although Buddy has since been allowed home, his recovery is far from over and the family says they are now facing major veterinary costs, with the possibility of further treatment if he needs referral to a specialist critical care unit in Bristol.

The family has now set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the mounting bills and give Buddy the best chance of survival.

Supporters have already begun donating, with many expressing outrage over the alleged actions of the driver and offering messages of sympathy and encouragement.
The family has thanked everyone who has helped so far and said every contribution, no matter how small, will go directly towards Buddy’s ongoing treatment and recovery.
