A CHARITY organised clean-up has seen team members at a housebuilder in North Wales roll up their sleeves as part of a national campaign to help care for local green spaces.
Led by the Barratt Redrow Foundation, the clean-up brought colleagues from across the Barratt Redrow group together for an afternoon of litter picking at Talacre Beach in Holywell.
On the day, 28 team members from divisions across the region volunteered a combined 42 hours, collecting a total of 31 bags of litter across the beach, helping to ensure the area can continue to be enjoyed by the local community.
Gareth Williams, Technical Director at Redrow North Wales, said: “Supporting our local communities is incredibly important to us, and that includes helping to protect and maintain shared spaces.
“With the sun shining, everyone really enjoyed getting stuck in at Talacre Beach! Days like this not only allow us to give something back but also help us build stronger connections with each other and the communities we support.”
Coined the Barratt Redrow Clean-up, the activity was set up in support of CleanupUK – a charity that encourages communities to come together to tackle litter in their neighbourhoods. The charity does this by helping to establish locally led litter-picking groups and providing the resources needed to create cleaner, safer and greener spaces.
Andy Button-Stephens, Head of the Barratt Redrow Foundation, said: “CleanupUK plays a vital role in tackling litter while bringing people together, and for the third year running we’re proud to partner with such an important charity.
“These clean-ups are about more than collecting litter; they’re about creating a lasting positive impact in the communities where we live and work.
“This has been our biggest Barratt Redrow Clean-up to date, with more than 60 events taking place nationwide and hundreds of employee volunteers getting involved this spring. A huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to support cleaner, greener communities across the UK.”
The clean-up is one of several initiatives supported by the Barratt Redrow Foundation, which focuses on creating lasting social value through volunteering, partnerships and grassroots support across the UK. Since its launch in 2021, the foundation has donated more than £20 million to more than 1,700 local and national charities.
