Caerphilly-based Catnic invests £200,000 in scheme supporting UK trade colleges

CATNIC, the leading manufacturer of steel construction products, has announced a significant expansion of its Build It Better College Scheme. In a major commitment to the next generation of tradespeople, the brand has increased its partnership network from 12 colleges in 2025 to over 30 institutions across the UK in 2026.

The 2026 program represents an investment of approximately £200,000 in list price value. Through this initiative, Catnic provides free premium products, hands-on training, and comprehensive classroom resources designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and on-site excellence.

The donations include a specialised range of high-performance components, equipping the modern classroom, ensuring students work with the same industry-standard materials they will encounter in professional practice. Key products supplied to the 30+ colleges include:

  • TS90/100 Thermally Broken Lintels: Advancing energy efficiency education.
  • CG90/100 Cavity Wall and BSD100 Internal Box Lintels.
  • Stronghold Wall Starters & Specialist Plasterers’ Beads: For precision finishing skills.

The 2026 cohort spans the length of the country, from Truro & Penwith College in the South West to Tyne Met College in the North East, and Gower College Swansea in Wales. By supporting institutions such as Leeds Construction College, Hertford Regional College, and Walsall College, Catnic is ensuring that the construction industry’s future professionals have access to elite resources regardless of geography.

James Anderson, National Sales Manager from Catnic, said: “Our mission is to elevate the standard of learning for the next generation.

“By providing £200k worth of materials and training, we aren’t just donating products; we are investing in the quality and safety of the future built environment.”

Following the scheme’s rapid growth, Catnic is now encouraging more educational institutions to join the 2027 intake. Applications are open to colleges looking to enhance their curriculum with industry-leading lintels and plastering components.
