SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Fflint Wrecsam has called for further details on Plaid Cymru’s childcare offer.
The Welsh Government has announced £55m of funding, including the expansion of funded childcare to more two-year-olds and £10m of capital funding to improve childcare settings.
Mr Rowlands, Welsh Conservative spokesperson for Education and Families has now called on Plaid Cymru for more clarification on how its childcare plans will be rolled out across Wales.
He said: “Additional investment in expanding childcare is welcome, but funding should be focused on supporting working families to help grow the Welsh economy.
“Flying Start needs reforming so provision is better targeted at families who need support rather than the current postcode lottery.
“The Welsh Conservatives want greater clarity for families and providers on long-term funding and whether there will be enough childcare places to deliver this offer in practice.”
