Carden Park Arena to host world class tennis at October’s Lexus Wrexham Open

THE LEXUS Wrexham Open has netted the support of the award-winning Carden Park Hotel – meaning more fans will be able to watch world class tennis in North Wales later this year.

The hotel, which is set within 1,000 acres of Cheshire countryside, is sponsoring the main arena at the prestigious event at Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre for the first time, with capacity for the court-side stadium seating increased to 700.

The ITF World Tennis Tour event, won by rising Welsh star Mimi Xu last year, will bring world-class women’s tennis to Wrexham between October 18-25, with tickets now on sale.

As part of Carden Park’s sponsorship, the luxury hotel also hosted the Lexus Wrexham Open’s first Ultimate Tennis Ball, attended by around 100 guests.

Dave Courteen, the tournament promoter, said: “Carden Park is the leading hospitality venue in the region and it’s brilliant that they are getting behind the event and providing the opportunity for even more people to enjoy watching fantastic tennis in Wrexham.

“It’s further evidence of just how much impact the tournament had within the local community last year, with excellent crowds enjoying a memorable week.

“We are delighted to welcome such a high-profile sponsor as the Carden Park Hotel to put its name to the main arena and hope this is the start of a long partnership.

“It was lovely to also hold our first Ultimate Tennis Ball at Carden Park, and it was a wonderful evening at an excellent venue.

“Every table was sold, the food was stunning, and the event – sponsored by Lexus Chester and Wayfresh – also raised more than £1,000 for The Tennis Foundation.”

Dan Gibson, Sales Director at Carden Park Hotel, said: “We are delighted to be involved with the tournament for the first time. The W100 Wrexham event is the biggest women’s tennis tournament to be played in the UK outside of the grass-court season.

“As a resort hotel, we are continuing to develop our reputation as a premium sports destination. We have long been known for our luxury spa and outstanding golf facilities, including two championship courses, and we have recently refurbished our tennis courts and gym, creating some of the best amenities in the local area.

“We are also adding a new, next-generation pitch to our existing professional football facilities – due to open in September 2026 – as part of our plans to attract sports teams to stay.

“Aligning ourselves with high-profile events such as this is an important part of our strategy to become an internationally recognised sports hotel.

“Our association with Wrexham is also significant, with many of our team members coming from the Wrexham area.

“We are really looking forward to welcoming guests and watching world-class tennis at the Lexus Wrexham Open in the Carden Park Arena.”
