REFORM MS Laura Anne Jones once again has called upon the Welsh Government to publish dates and a clear timetable for implementing guidance across Wales and changing policy to abide by the Law, following the Supreme Court ruling on single sex spaces and women’s rights.
Speaking in the Senedd, Ms Jones challenged the Welsh Government over its failure to provide dates or a clear plan for putting the law into practice across Wales, after the clear ruling that ‘sex’ means ‘biological sex’.
Ms Jones said in the Senedd last week: “The law is the law. You (the Plaid Welsh Government) say you respect the Supreme Court judgment. So when will you fulfil that obligation and protect the rights of women and girls in Wales? It’s time for dates and I would like to ask for a statement outlining your planned actions.”
Following the exchange, Ms Jones said: “Once again, the Welsh Government is digging in its heels and refusing to provide dates for putting into practice the law and the Supreme Court ruling that would protect women and girls in Wales and ensure fairness in sport.”
