ANNE DAVIES MP visited Baobab Cymru in Llandybie last Friday, keeping a promise she made after being unable to attend the restaurant’s grand opening earlier this year.
The MP was greeted with a warm embrace and treated to a spread of home-cooked Ghanaian dishes, from jollof rice to slow-cooked chicken and traditional sides, served on kente cloth in the venue’s gallery space. She was joined by County Councillor Dai Nicholas and fellow Llandybie councillors.
Based at The College Inn, Baobab Cymru brings the flavours of West Africa to the heart of Carmarthenshire, with every dish made from scratch and rooted in Ghanaian tradition. Alongside the restaurant, Caffi Baobab serves fresh pastries and coffee, and the venue has quickly established itself as a welcoming fixture in the village since opening its doors.
Adisa Amanor-Wilks, owner of Baobab Cymru, said: “It meant a great deal to welcome Anne and our local councillors. When she couldn’t make the opening, she promised she would visit, and she kept her word. Sharing our food and culture with the community is exactly what Baobab Cymru is about, and days like this show how welcome we’ve been made to feel in Llandybie.”
