A POWERFUL new dance theatre production exploring connection, belonging and resilience is set to tour Wales this autumn, as disabled-led company Humans Move takes its acclaimed show Let Life Dance to audiences across the country.
The professional inclusive dance theatre company will perform in Pontypridd, Abertillery, Llanelli, Aberystwyth Arts Centre and Mold during its 2026 tour, with every performance featuring audio description to make the production accessible to a wider audience.
Blending striking physical movement with emotional storytelling, Let Life Dance follows the highs and lows of life’s journey, exploring themes of isolation, acceptance and the importance of community. Through movement alone, a cast of disabled and non-disabled dancers tells a story of people navigating personal struggles, becoming disconnected from those around them and ultimately finding strength by reconnecting with each other.
The production examines both individual and shared experiences, capturing moments of frustration, joy, vulnerability and hope as the performers learn to embrace their differences and support one another.
Humans Move was founded in 2021 by award-winning choreographer Jessie Brett, who established the company to create more opportunities for disabled and non-disabled dancers to perform together professionally in Wales.
“I set up Humans Move as I believe dance with casts of disabled and non-disabled dancers are needed, to have a space, in Wales to flourish and grow.” she said.
Speaking about Let Life Dance, Jessie added: “It explores what happens when we surrender to the flow of life and receive the support we need to flourish and how we need a village to support us through some of these challenging times.”
Jessie’s distinctive approach to physical storytelling has previously been showcased at Hijinx’s Unity Festival, while her inclusive practice has also taken her overseas to work with Adunya Dance Company, Meseret Yirga and Destino Dance Company in Ethiopia.
Supported by the Arts Council of Wales, Let Life Dance features a cast of five accomplished disabled and non-disabled performers:
- Justin Melluish, whose credits include Hijinx and Frantic Assembly’s Into the Light and the S4C/BBC Wales drama Hidden/Craith;
- Giverney Hâf Blomeley, who has appeared with Rocking Horse Media, Cwmni Open at Theatr Clwyd and North Wales Phoenix Theatre Company;
- Laura Moy, known for work with NoFit State, National Theatre Wales and Pirates of the Carabina;
- Adi Detamo, whose career includes Frantic Assembly, Theatre-Rites and Breaking Convention;
- Indigo Tarran, whose recent performances include Jo Fong’s How Shall We Begin Again, Zosia Jo’s Fabulous Animals and AFON (Deep Listening) with Maynard Abercych.
As the dancers navigate life’s twists, turns and moments of uncertainty, the production invites audiences to reflect on the power of compassion, connection and collective support.
