ARMED police and multiple response units were deployed near Llanelli railway station on Monday morning following a report of an aggravated burglary.
Dyfed-Powys Police received a call at approximately 7.05am on Monday, July 27, relating to an incident at Great Western Crescent.
Specialist firearms officers wearing body armour were among those sent to the area, alongside several response vehicles. Witnesses reported seeing at least six police vehicles, including three Armed Response Vehicles, in the vicinity of Ralph Terrace and the railway station.
An eyewitness also claimed that a violent altercation had taken place in the area on the previous evening. That account has not been independently verified, and police have not confirmed whether it was connected to Monday morning’s incident.
Dyfed-Powys Police later confirmed that two men, aged 35 and 49, had been arrested in connection with the reported burglary and remained in custody.
The immediate police operation has now concluded, although officers remain in the area while enquiries continue.
A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Officers are dealing with a report of an aggravated burglary at Great Western Crescent, Llanelli, following a call made at 7.05am on Monday morning, July 27.
“Two men, aged 35 and 49, have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in police custody.”
The investigation remains ongoing. At the time of publication, police had not announced that either arrested man had been charged with any offence.
