Murder suspect may have been spotted in Pendine

LAST week, Dyfed-Powys Police responded to a report of a possible sighting of Steve Baxter – the man officers need to speak to in connection with the murder of Simon Clark from Pendine, Carmarthenshire, reported on September 28.

Following extensive searches, it was established that the man was not Steve Baxter.

Police are currently following up sightings of a man in Pendine on the evening of Saturday, October 20, which is believed to match the description of Steve Baxter.

Detective Superintendent Huw Davies said: “There has been a visible police presence in Haverfordwest since the activity on October 18, to speak to concerned members of the public and reassure them that there are specialist officers and staff working to find Steve Baxter.

“Our investigation has since led us to other parts of the force area, although I must stress that enquiries are continuing throughout West Wales.

“Any information from the public is of utmost importance to the investigation. Please get in touch if you see Steve Baxter.”

Baxter is also known as Steve Tidy, Steve Rowley, Wayne Tidy or William Tidy, is aged 52, 5’5” in height and has tattoos on his forearms – with the name Chez and entwined circles on his left arm and a serpent on his right arm.

He is bald, but has been making attempts to alter his appearance. He was previously pictured wearing a wig and hat. He may now have facial hair.

The independent charity Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £5,000 for information leading to Steve Baxter being found. Information would be taken by the charity anonymously.
