Rain ruins Saturday cricket

RAIN put pay to all but two fixtures in the Pembroke County Cricket Club leagues on Saturday (Jul 23).

Some teams did attempt to play but they were inevitably forced off as the rain prevented any further action.

In Division 1, Carew reached 41-0 to pick up one point in their game against Haverfordwest while Pembroke Dock reached 16-0 before being forced off.

All other games in Division 1 were abandoned without a ball being bowled.

In Division 2, Burton (main picture) reached 29-0 before their game with Lamphey was ended while Llechryd reached 199-1 before the covers had to be brought on.

Udell Preville had reached 112 not out for the home side as Llechryd at least claimed six points for their efforts.

Herbie were the big winners as they were able to finish their game. They reached 240-2 in their game with Jack Nicholas smashing his way to a score of 112 not out. They then bowled Pembroke out for 130 to win by 110 runs.

Just one match attempted play in Division 3 as Llanrhian seconds reached 53-0 in their game at St Ishmaels seconds before the rain came in.

No games were played in Division 4 while the only other game to be concluded was in Division 5 South where Hundleton beat Stackpole seconds.

Stackpole were bowled out for 55 with Ben Adams claiming excellent figures of 4-11. Stuart McNiffe (1-7), Elliot Midgeley (1-3) and Robson Walkey (1-18) were also amongst the wickets.
