AN ABERYSTWYTH man has been found guilty of assaulting another man and causing him actual bodily harm.
Paul McGarry, 46, of High Street, Aberystwyth, appeared before Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (Jul 2).
He had denied assaulting Luke Sumner at St Michael’s Place, Aberystwyth, on April 20.
Following a trial, magistrates found McGarry guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.
The case was committed to Swansea Crown Court for sentence under section 14 of the Sentencing Act 2020.

McGarry was granted conditional bail ahead of his next hearing, which is listed at Swansea Crown Court on July 23.
His bail conditions include a daily electronically monitored curfew between 9:00pm and 9:00am, a requirement to live and sleep each night at his High Street address, and daily reporting to Aberystwyth Police Station between noon and 2:00pm.
He must also not contact the victim or any prosecution witnesses, either directly or indirectly.
A pre-sentence report has been ordered.
