A CALL to introduce formal traffic order on a new stretch of road in Cardigan has been backed by senior councillors.

At the Ceredigion County Council Cabinet meeting of June 3, members were asked to make an order to introduce a new Limited waiting bay 35m in length from a point 1m south of the north wall of the entrance to Maes Mwldan Care Home on Bath House Road on its eastern side, operating Mon – Sat, 8am – 6pm, 1 hour, no return within 2 hours, replacing an unused bus stop and informal drop-off zone.

A report presented by Councillor Shelley Childs, Cabinet Member for Highways and Environmental Services said: “It is necessary to introduce a new limited waiting bay by Maes Mwldan Care Home on Bath House Road, Cardigan to provide suitable and adequate parking facilities via a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO).

“This is a part of the process of adopting this section of Bath House Road. First and Second stage consultation on the proposed new bay has been completed and no objections were received. Authorisation is now sought to proceed with the making of the TRO and the publication of a notice to that effect in local press.”

Members were told implementation costs would be met by Caredig Ltd, as part of the road adoption process, but maintenance and enforcement of parking restrictions will need to be met through Highways and Environmental Services revenue budgets in future years.

Members unanimously backed the making of the order, and the publication of a notice, “to ensure the formalisation of adequate parking on [the] public highway”.
