Mwldan have two brilliant pieces of live theatre heading Cardigan June.
On June 10, Cwmni Pendraw’s fantastic Welsh language production ‘DNA’, which tells the events that led to the Nobel Prize being given to Watson and Crick, but this time spotlighting the overlooked contribution of Rosalind Franklin. The play is a detective story, presenting the evidence, and revealing the steps taken by all those working towards the historic discovery. The play is accompanied by some brilliant live music from Welsh musician Patrick Rimes (Vrï and Calan).
Lighthouse Theatre’s dark comedy ‘White Lies’ brings suburban surrealism to the stage on June 16. Written by Dr Who script-writer Robert Shearman, a celebrated protégé of the legendary Alan Ayckbourn, White Lies sits firmly in the wheelhouse of classic British domestic comedy. Expect the awkward brilliance of Abigail’s Party mixed with the chaotic energy of Fawlty Towers, but with a surreal edge!

A story about the discovery of the structure of DNA, a discovery that completely changed the world.
It’s a story that may have been told before, but has often been mis-told, and certainly hasn’t been told in Welsh language theatre. Accompanied by an original arrangement, performed live by Patrick Rimes (Vrï and Calan).
Cwmni Pendraw retell the events that led to Nobel Prize being given to Watson and Crick, but this time spotlighting the overlooked contribution of Rosalind Franklin. The play is a detective story, presenting the evidence, and revealing the steps taken by all those working towards the historic discovery.
In the play, Rosalind explains in clear and simple terms, what DNA is to friend and mentor Adrienne; who is not a biochemist. This science is brought to life by projected images and animations that form the set itself. It’s a chance to understand the science of DNA, as part of a rich and dynamic story.
But the story is about so much more than science. Against the backdrop of the 1950s, the plot centres on this unconventional character who challenged the period’s rigid gender stereotypes. It is also a unique kind of love story, exploring the people who loved Rosalind, and Rosalind’s own unwavering love for her work.
This is a Welsh language production with live music.
