A BY-ELECTION for Powys County Council will take place in Llanidloes next month, the council has confirmed.
The by-election has been triggered by the resignation of Councillor Gareth Morgain in May.
Polling day is scheduled for Thursday, 3 July 2025.
Six candidates are standing in the by-election:
- David Dennis Campbell (Independent)
- Phylip Rhys Davies (Welsh Conservative Party)
- Trudy Davies (Welsh Labour)
- Victoria Louise Evans (Plaid Cymru)
- Fleur Frantz-Morgans (Welsh Liberal Democrats)
- Graham Maurice Jones (Reform UK)
Anyone who is not yet registered to vote must do so by Tuesday, 17 June 2025 in order to take part in the election. Voter registration can be completed online at: www.gov.uk/registertovote

Voters are also reminded that applications to vote by post, or to amend or cancel an existing postal vote, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at County Hall, Llandrindod Wells by 5:00pm on Wednesday, 18 June 2025.
Applications to vote by proxy must be received by the Electoral Registration Officer by 5:00pm on Wednesday, 25 June 2025. Proxy application forms are available at: www.powys.gov.uk/elections
