A BRECON-based esports club has strengthened its EA FC squad with the signing of a player who recently represented Newcastle United in the 2026 ePremier League.
S.E.A. Dragons have announced the arrival of Rhys Vaughan following his successful season with Newcastle United, where he helped the Premier League club qualify for the ePremier League Grand Finals and secure an eighth-place finish.
Vaughan also recently competed at the Esports World Cup Last Chance Qualifier in Paris, facing many of the world’s top EA FC players.
The signing has already paid dividends for the Powys club, with Vaughan helping S.E.A. Dragons qualify for the knockout stages of the Welsh Esports League. One postponed fixture remains, which will determine whether the team finishes first or second in its group.
Patryk Białowąs, founder of S.E.A. Dragons, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Rhys to the club. Bringing in someone who has recently represented Newcastle United at the highest level of domestic EA FC is a fantastic addition for us and another exciting step forward for the organisation.”
Club director Connor “Faizye” Chittock said the signing reflected the club’s growing reputation within the esports community.
“One thing we’ve always wanted to do as a club is create an environment where top players want to compete,” he said. “Rhys is a fantastic addition to the squad, and it’s brilliant to see someone of his calibre choosing to represent a club from Brecon and Powys.”
S.E.A. Dragons have established themselves as one of Wales’ leading esports organisations, having been crowned Welsh Esports League Club of the Season for two consecutive years. The club continues to represent Brecon and Powys in competitions across Wales, the UK and Europe.
The latest signing is another significant step in the club’s ambitions to compete at the highest levels of competitive EA FC while continuing to grow the profile of Welsh esports on the national and international stage.
