Powys charity strengthens support for young carers after gaining national quality award

Honeypot Children’s Charity in Newtown receives Bronze Social Value Quality Mark for community impact

A POWYS-BASED children’s charity has strengthened its commitment to supporting young carers and children facing difficult circumstances after achieving a nationally recognised accreditation.

The Honeypot Children’s Charity, which operates from its Honeypot Pen y Bryn house in Newtown, has been awarded the Bronze Social Value Quality Mark, recognising its work in delivering positive social, environmental and economic impact.

The charity provides short Respite Breaks, Health and Wellbeing Breaks, and ongoing wraparound support for children aged five to 12 who may be experiencing pressure at home or at school. Its work focuses on early intervention, helping children to build confidence, improve their wellbeing and create positive childhood memories.

The Social Value Quality Mark is independently assessed and is regarded as one of the most rigorously tested standards of its kind in the UK. It evaluates how organisations deliver meaningful benefits for communities, employees and wider society.

To achieve the Bronze award, Honeypot made a series of commitments to create, measure and independently report its social value. These include pledges on skills development, wellbeing, investment in local communities, charitable giving and carbon reduction.

Simmi Woodwal, Chief Executive of The Honeypot Children’s Charity, said the accreditation marked an important step forward for the organisation.

“By supporting young carers and children facing difficult circumstances at an early stage, we help build confidence, improve wellbeing and create positive childhood memories, delivering lasting benefits not only for children, but for families, schools and wider communities.

“This accreditation strengthens our commitment to measuring the difference we make and expanding our reach so more children can access the support they need, helping level the playing field and create brighter futures.”
