RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information after a dead puppy was found next to a river in Brecon.
The upsetting discovery was found by a member of the public on October 15 near a river near Walnut Square, and the RSPCA were informed.
Animal Rescue Officer Jess Parkyn, who collected the body at the location, said the puppy – a crossbreed- was newborn and not microchipped, so an appeal has been launched to try and find out what happened. It is unknown if the puppy is male or female.

Jess said: “We don’t know what the cause of death was or what has happened, so we are appealing for anyone with any first hand information to give us a call.
“The puppy had no apparent injuries, but due to the body being left where it was, it is suspicious and we’d like to find out what happened.”
To help the RSPCA with its enquiries anyone with first-hand information can contact the RSPCA Inspectorate Appeal line on 0300 123 8018, quoted reference number 01657726.
