THE BUILDING Control team at Powys County Council have helped raise just over £619 for Wales Air Ambulance during this year’s Royal Welsh Show.
A spokesperson for the team said: “We were so lucky to have a stand right next to the main ring and wanted to make the most of the opportunity by fundraising for a Charity, and as a team we chose the Wales Air Ambulance”.
Over the three days, two of the team dressed up as Rubble from Paw Patrol, to help raise awareness about the lifesaving service.
The spokesperson said: “Powys is a large county, mostly rural and miles away from the nearest emergency hospital, so when someone gets critically ill or seriously injured, it’s a relief to know that the air ambulance is on standby.”

Wales Air Ambulance is consultant-led, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient and, if required, transferring them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury.
It is delivered via a unique third sector and public sector partnership. The Wales Air Ambulance Charity relies on public donations to raise the £11.2 million required every year to keep the helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road.
The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) supplies highly skilled NHS consultants and critical care practitioners who work on board the Charity’s vehicles.
This advanced critical care includes the ability to administer anaesthesia, deliver blood transfusions and conduct minor operations, all at the scene of an incident.
As a pan-Wales service, its dedicated crews, regardless of where they are based, will travel the length and breadth of the country to deliver emergency critical care.
The spokesperson continued “We had a fantastic few days, and on the last day, Rubble visited the Wales Air Ambulance stand where our team chatted with a Critical Care Practitioner, the Director of Aviation and fundraisers”.
“It was interesting to find out about the work of the Charity and know we were doing something so positive to help its lifesaving work.”
“We were amazed at how many donated when they passed our stand, we handed goodie bags out and had a raffle each day to win a giant teddy bear.”
“Rubble even got a picture with Doc Martin star Martin Clunes who was judging the Supreme Horse Championship.”
