A WELSH Christian leader says that the escalating conflict involving the Middle East and Iran poses a major and critical threat to global energy markets, and far more importantly to social justice, shared responsibility, and human dignity.
Reverend Owain Llŷr Evans is the President of the Union of Welsh Independent Churches, which represents Nonconformist Christians who meet in 300 chapels across Wales
He said: “With more than a dozen countries already drawn into the conflict, the continuation of this multi‑front war is unconscionable.
“The human cost of the conflict has already been severe and this Easter, together with all who hold and uphold peace, we reaffirm that war is inherently destructive.
“International leaders and factions who profess to share our Easter faith must reject an us‑against‑them mindset and recommit to moral integrity, dignity, and peace. The dehumanisation of others is always a choice—and always wrong.
“In the light of Easter peace is not only necessary, but possible.”
