Brighter Being promotes preventative health with free community event

BUSINESSES are joining forces to support a free event aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of the local community.

Brighter Being, the award-winning start-up founded by nutritionist Ethan Thomas, is teaming up with Coffi Kitoko at Mamhilad Park Estate, Pontypool, to deliver an evening of learning and practical solutions for better health.

The event, which takes place on Monday, November 17, from 5:00pm to 6:30pm, will focus on simple lifestyle changes proven to reduce the risk of chronic disease.

Ethan Thomas, founder of Brighter Being and winner of the Best Under 25’s Business Start-Up award with Business Wales, said: “Our nation is facing the biggest health challenges we have ever seen, and it’s taking its toll on people, communities, and the NHS.”

Recent figures reveal that deaths from cardiovascular disease among people under 50 have risen by 18% in the last four years, while diabetes rates have doubled in 15 years, costing the NHS around 9% of its total budget. Alzheimer’s cases among under-65s have also surged by 69% since 2014.

Brighter Being’s workshops draw on research showing that up to 80% of chronic disease and premature deaths could be prevented through diet, exercise, and lifestyle improvements. Sessions offer practical strategies for achieving and maintaining a healthy weight, boosting energy levels, and preventing disease.

The company also provides an app filled with quick, nutritious recipes, helping users increase vital nutrients such as fibre — which only 9% of UK adults currently consume in adequate amounts.

Ethan, who also works with individual clients on conditions including obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure, said his goal is to help more people achieve long-term remission and improved wellbeing.

The free event will be held at Coffi Kitoko, Mamhilad Park Estate, Pontypool (NP4 0HZ).
