Crimestoppers Wales launches new Zones to help communities share information safely and anonymously

CRIMESTOPPERS Wales has launched nine new Crimestoppers Zones across the country, helping more people feel confident to speak up about crime safely and completely anonymously.

The Zones act as visible reminders that anyone can share information about crime without ever giving your own personal details.

Crimestoppers is an independent charity and not part of the police.

Crimestoppers is not the police. It is an independent charity. They never ask for your name. The charity never traces calls or tracks IP addresses.

Information is passed securely to the relevant police force, without anyone knowing it came from you.

People can contact Crimestoppers about a wide range of crime, including to report:

  • Drug dealing and County Lines activity
  • Organised crime and criminal exploitation
  • The use of or carrying weapons
  • Violence and serious assaults
  • Burglary and vehicle crime
  • Exploitation of vulnerable people

If something does not feel right in your area, you can speak up.

Even a small piece of information can help build a bigger picture and support action to make your community safer.

These Zones are being introduced in areas where communities have told us that crime is having a real impact. By improving awareness of the anonymous reporting service, Crimestoppers aims to increase the amount of intelligence or useful information in areas of that that struggle with under reporting and especially violent or persistent crime.

When more people feel confident to share what they know, it helps police and partners to take meaningful action. That can lead to arrests, the safeguarding of vulnerable people, disruption of organised crime and visible improvements within neighbourhoods.

Crimestoppers Zones are not simply signs on lampposts.

They form part of a wider commitment to work closely with local partners, housing providers, councils and community groups to strengthen confidence and encourage people to use the anonymous service.

The nine new Crimestoppers Zones being launched are located in:

  • Ely, Cardiff
  • Llanedeyrn, Cardiff
  • Tyshia, Llanelli
  • Glan-y-mor, Carmarthen
  • Five Zones across Neath Port Talbot: Station Road, Taibach Memorial Park, Brynteg, Fairyland, Parc Wern and Skewen

Crimestoppers Wales will continue working closely with local partners to build safer, stronger neighbourhoods.
