Man admits to killing woman in Townhill, Swansea

A MAN has admitted murdering a woman whose body was found at a house in Swansea earlier this year.

MATTHEW BATTENBOUGH, aged 33 and of no fixed address, appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Monday (August 18), where he pleaded guilty to the murder of 47-year-old LEANNE WILLIAMS.

Ms Williams’ body was discovered at her home on Gomer Road in the Townhill area of the city on 27 February. A post-mortem examination found she had suffered significant injuries consistent with an assault.

Battenbough was remanded in custody. He is due to be sentenced on 26 September.

South Wales Police Detective Inspector DAVID BUTT said: “The news of Leanne’s death was devastating to her family and to the wider communities of Townhill and Swansea.

“Leanne’s family is being supported by specially trained officers. We hope that Matthew Battenbough’s guilty plea will offer them some relief following this traumatic time.”
