RHYL is set to welcome a new state-of-the-art mental health hospital in April 2025, following significant investment from HSBC UK.
Ty Melyn Limited has secured an eight-figure funding package from the bank to purchase a site on Brighton Road, Rhyl, which will become the new Seren Gobaith Mental Health Hospital.
The privately-run hospital will operate 24 hours a day across five wards, offering 62 en-suite beds for patients. The project is expected to create 250 new jobs for healthcare professionals and support staff, providing a major employment boost for the area.
Designed to serve patients from across North Wales, the facility will reduce the need for residents to travel to England for inpatient mental health care. It is also committed to using local suppliers and supporting regional charities as part of its community-focused ethos.
Seren Gobaith will become the fifth site in Ty Melyn Limited’s expanding portfolio of healthcare facilities in Wales.
Nadarajah Pragashparan, Director at Ty Melyn Limited, said: “We’re pleased to have received funding from HSBC UK, which enhances our commitment to delivering high-quality care in Wales and supporting local initiatives. As part of the hospital’s launch, we have supported the preparation and storage of 50 meals for homeless veterans across North Wales, in partnership with the charity Change Step.
“We have also collaborated with The Poppy Factory, which supports veterans in gaining employment. The new hospital will be the largest of its kind in Wales, offering exceptional mental healthcare in facilities designed to support the individual needs of all patients.”
James Le Maire, Corporate Director at HSBC UK, added: “It has been a great privilege to support Ty Melyn Limited in developing a hospital that not only brings essential mental health services to North Wales but also creates 250 local jobs. This project will deliver long-term benefits to the local community.”
Seren Gobaith joins other care facilities operated by Nadarajah Pragashparan, which primarily support the elderly and individuals living with dementia.
