A SEVENTH person has now been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Joanne Penney at a flat in Talbot Green, Rhondda Cynon Taf.
Ms Penney, who was 40 years old, was discovered with serious injuries at a property on Green Park on Saturday, 9 March. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
South Wales Police said the inquest heard she died from a gunshot wound to the chest, which caused fatal injuries to her heart and lung.
Five people have already been charged with murder, while a sixth person is accused of assisting an offender. All were previously remanded in custody pending trial.
The latest individual to be charged is Sai Raj Manne, aged 25, of no fixed address. He appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday (Apr 16) via video link from HMP Hewell in Worcestershire.
Manne is accused of participating in the activities of an organised crime group. He did not enter a plea during the hearing.
Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke confirmed the case has now been joined with the others already before the court. All seven defendants are expected to appear for a pre-trial hearing on 7 July, with a trial scheduled to begin on 20 October.
In a tribute released shortly after her death, Ms Penney’s family said: “Her kindness, strength and love for her family will never be forgotten.”
