BURTON secured a comfortable win over Lamphey on Saturday (May 21) as theycame away with an eight-wicket win.
Burton won the toss and chose to field and they bowled Lamphey out for 96.
Peter McGilloway made an early score of 13 before he was bowled by Dan Ridge who also claimed the wickets of David Blackwell, David Dredge and Nick Shelmerdine.
Rob Mathias was out for a duck to Robert Webb as Lamphey were in trouble on 37-5.
Andy Tait and Grant Cole showed some resistance as they shared 32 runs for the sixth wicket.
Tait hit three fours in his score of 27 but he was then bowled by Webb. Moments later, Cole was also out as he was caught by Dan Wilks off the bowling of Jack Davies on a score of 17.
Nathan Mounter and Toby Bradley-Watson looked to get their side into three figures as they shared 18 runs for the eighth wicket.
However, Bradley-Watson was stumped by Iestyn Evans off the bowling of Davies.
Mounter had made a score of 17 but he was bowled by Harry Owen. Luke Hayman claimed the final wicket as he bowled Jon Edwards.
It meant that Burton would need just 97 to win the game. Although they lost Toby Hayman early on when he was trapped leg before by Peter McGilloway, the visitors were never really troubled.
Jack Davies and Jonathan Venables then shared 61 runs for the second wicket to all but win the game.
Davies hit six fours in his scorte of 38 but he was then caiught by Nick Shelmerdine off the bowling of David Dredge.
Venables batted on and he finished not pout on 44 (8 fours) to see Burton to victory inside 17 overs.
On Saturday, May 28, Burton host Division 2 leaders Herbrandston while Lamphey travel to Llanrhian.
