COLEG Sir Gâr’s basketball team proved they are the top team in Wales winning the Welsh Colleges National Basketball tournament.
The team consists of a variety of students who are studying performing arts, sport, foundation and A-levels.
The Carmarthenshire side beat Coleg y Cymoedd in the final which was played at Cardiff City House of Sport, beating the opposition 11-9. The team was created and is supported by the college’s 5×30 team.
Jonathan Garcia, performance manager at Coleg Sir Gâr said: “This is a massive achievement for what was set-out to be a recreational team that have developed into a strong squad.
“We look forward to taking them to the national championship in Nottingham next year.”
