Michael Schumacher insider provides ‘very sad’ health update on F1 icon’s condition

A close associate of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher has given a heartbreaking update on his health, nearly 12 years after the skiing accident that changed his life.

Schumacher, a seven-time world champion, suffered a severe brain injury in December 2013 when he struck a rock while skiing off-piste in France. He was placed in a medically induced coma for six months and has since remained under constant care at his family’s residence.

The Schumacher family has remained fiercely private about his condition, sharing very few details with the public. However, Felix Gorner, a reporter for German broadcaster RTL and one of the few media figures with close ties to the family, recently provided a sobering update on the Ferrari icon’s situation.

“The situation is very sad,” Gorner revealed. “He [Schumacher] needs constant care and is completely dependent on his caregivers. And he can no longer express himself verbally.

“Currently, there’s a maximum of 20 people who can approach Michael. And, in my opinion, it’s the right strategy. Because the family is acting in Michael’s best interests. They’ve always strictly protected his privacy, and that hasn’t changed.”

Gorner’s comments come after Schumacher’s wife, Corinna, spoke publicly in February about a shocking blackmail case involving a former security guard. The ex-employee, identified as Markus F., was convicted alongside two accomplices for attempting to extort the Schumacher family.

The trio had threatened to release 900 personal photographs, nearly 600 videos, and confidential medical documents unless they were paid €15 million (£12 million). Corinna described the ordeal as a ‘massive breach of trust’ and expressed her dismay over the situation.

Following the trial, Yilmaz T. was sentenced to three years in prison, while his son, Daniel L., received a six-month suspended sentence. Markus F. was handed a suspended two-year prison term. However, Corinna confirmed that the family would be appealing the verdict, believing the punishment to be too lenient.

Michael Schumacher has not been seen in public since his accident, and his family continues to uphold his privacy, shielding him from media scrutiny while ensuring he receives the best possible care.
