HOLLYWOOD stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have ventured into the world of Formula One by investing in the Alpine Racing team. This move comes as part of a substantial $200 million investment, which grants them a 24 percent stake in the team. Alpine Racing, currently sitting fifth in the constructors’ championship, will benefit from the involvement of Reynolds’ production company, Maximum Effort, alongside Otro Capital and RedBird Capital Partners. Notably, actor Michael B. Jordan has also joined the group of investors.
Reynolds and McElhenney’s investment in the Wrexham football club has gained widespread admiration, thanks to their active participation in games and efforts to promote the entire town. The announcement regarding their investment in Alpine Racing was made by Renault, the parent company of the team. James Toney, co-founder of Maximum Effort Investments with Reynolds, also shared the news.
In a statement published on renaultgroup.com, it was stated, “Maximum Effort Investments focuses on unlocking value through the power of storytelling, and we believe there is tremendous untapped potential in Alpine Racing. We are eager to help shine a light on this incredible team. We’re thankful to our partners at Otro Capital and RedBird Capital Partners and look forward to diving in with them, as well as our co-investors Michael B. Jordan and Rob McElhenney.”
Since its rebranding as Alpine in 2021, the team has achieved notable success, including one victory and three podium finishes. Esteban Ocon, one of the team’s drivers, secured a third-place finish in Monaco this season. Ocon currently holds the ninth position in the drivers’ championship, while his teammate Pierre Gasly is one place behind him.
With this new investment, the Alpine Racing team aims to leverage the expertise and resources of Reynolds, McElhenney, and their partners to further enhance their performance and standing in the highly competitive world of Formula One.
